Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Bruce Springsteen!!

Finally the project that took FOREVER, is finally done and I can snuggle with Bruce in bed.

Here he is hanging out on a chair, he looks good in all sorts of rooms in my house.

I took the image from the cover on Darkness on the edge of Town

I import the image into Adobe Illustrator and turn it into 3 tones, dark grey, light grey and white.

And den, I grid it out. I've crocheted the background of the pillow in white (85 single crochet stitches across x 85 rows = a really long fucking time.)

Then I cross stitch the gridded pattern over the top, and a back and sew it all up.

And if anyone was wondering, we did make it into the pit at last week's Springsteen show, and Rosie came out! It was awesome, thanks Bruce!

How things are Going: A pillow in honor of Bruce.

Yep, it's true, that totally is an awesome crocheted Bruce Springsteen pilllow you are looking at, well sort of. My original goal was to have this pillow done by tonight's Boss concert, but like all projects, they take about one million times longer than originally planned.

Here is a picture of the tickets as proof that we are actually going. We're trying a new stratedgy tonight, we've bought the general admission tickets and in about 2 hours are going to head over to the venue to wait in line, and try our chances at getting into the pit (as they call it).

So here's the sped up version of the pillow, after about 4 weeks of casual working on my pillow while working on the job, I finally make it to the point where I have a solid 18" x 18" background.

Step 2. Let the cross stitching begin. It's at this point that I'm not sure whether or not that after all this work this thing will really turn out or not. I cross stitch day and night and decide that I don't think Bruce looks good with an afro.

Step 3. I add more hair and more face, he is starting to look much more like himself.

Step 4. It pretty much looks like him! Success. Darkness on the Edge of Town era Bruce Springsteen I love you!

There's no such thing as free

Last Friday my friend Crystal (aka Rhinosnacks) took me on a Bloomington adventure. Once a year Bloomington has a day that the city will come and pick up whatever garbage you have, for free, no matter if it's appliances, old windows or secret awesome treasures. Crystal and I were interested in the secret awesome treasures part of the equation. We aren't the only ones though, the small streets are full of trucks with trailers skimming street curbs for the same awesome finds we are looking for. Crystal borrows McTubbins Jeep so we can pile it full.

One of our first fines is an awesome box of animal skulls for Crystal.

Glass piles and ankle tats

We make it home with all our free stuff but it is all starting to feel not so free. I wish I could give it all back in exchange for Tubbs back window.
