Socks on the Brain

Schoppel Wolle Admiral R Druck
I've been bitten by the sock making bug, good thing winter's coming soon. I've purchased three kinds of yarn and plan to get sock making asap. Anyways if you don't see me around the internetwebmachine for a few days, you know where I'll be.

Happy Birthday Rippy!!!!!!!!!

In honor of Aaron's Birthday and the unofficial last day of Summer and my return to work after 8 weeks off, we decided to have a few folks over for some food and some yard games.

Elsa and I had our work cut out for us. First thing's first. Cupcakes for Rip. We were low on supplies so we had to do some improvising. I only had enough butter to make the cupcakes. I got on the interweb and looked myself up a vegan frosting recipe. It was no butter cream, but it did the trick. Tasty and sweet! Just like frosting should be.

Mmmmm...... cupcakes.......

Mmmmm...... frosted cupcakes.......

Ok. Cupcakes down. Next, get those chickens on the grill. My Dad grows chickens out at his place. He raises 'em and feeds 'em and ultimately slaughters 'em. It's a given that a couple end up in our freezer. We decided to go the ol' beer can in the bum route when grilling these beauties up.

I can't take much credit for the preparation and grilling of these birds. The most I did was make sure these girls were thawed out and made sure there was no cross contamination. Working for six years at a Kentucky Fried Chicken has made me an expert in poultry handling. I guess you could say I do chicken right. I guess you could say that.

Along with chicken husbandry, my Dad grows some wicked awesome veggies in his garden. I sliced those puppies up and threw 'em in some spinach and our meal was complete. Our Friends brought things to share and we really did have an awesome afternoon grillin' and chillin'!

Another Birthday down. Another Summer under our belts. Adios, Summer. We will miss you!

An Organized Craft Zone

Closet turned into Craft Zone
I've had a craft closet for almost a year now, it has just been turning into a major junk pile though. Last night in a fit of inspiration I decided to go through all my stuff and organize my junk pile into a functional craft zone.

Craft Zone
Unfinished business.

WTF? Unfinished projects
I think this cross stitch is missing a "?"

I finally organize all my stuff.
I finally do something with all of these baby jars that I have been collecting, now all my little do-dads are in the right place.

Craft Zone
I even have enough room to store my photographs, and save them from the garage. Way to go me.

This sock is so lonely.

Not so lonely now
Good thing I know how to make socks now. I make this sock guy a sock buddy, problem solved.

A Cool Fall Wedding

Paper flowers
Jeff and I went to our friends, Mark & Arielle's wedding this weekend. I've been to a lot of weddings in my day, but this wedding took the cake (ha) for best hand made decorations. So like all good craft bloggers I decided I should take some photos and share it around the interweb. Paper flower bouquet's are totally awesome. I need to find the pattern for these somewhere, I don't know why, I just need to.

I stole this photo from the bride and grooms wedding website, I wanted to show you how totally awesome these flowers were.

In all the trees hung these pretty paper bag flowers.

Photoshop: The New Time Travel?

I love you FINN!
Check it out, this lady just made editing photos easy, and a little fun. As you can see from the looks of this picture, me and Finn time traveled right into the seventies using one of the many action available for download. Now photo editing is as simple as a click of a button. For anyone who wants to make their blog and their photos look cooler you should download and give it a try. Thanks Pioneer Lady!

I'm a Minnesota State Fair Convert

Minnesotan Gothic
Nicole and I head on over to the "Great Minnesota Get Together" yesterday afternoon with Elsa & FInn. It is her mission to teach me that the state fair is cool. I never was down with the crowds and blisters, but a few pronto pups later I was beginning to understand . Our first stop, Mnnesotan Gothic at the art building.

Mom's drink beers
We immediately make a pit stop at the beer garden. Us mom's buy beers and continue strolling. Ahh Beers in the afternoon, does it get any better?

Finn & Elsa: Ready to stroll
Our partners in crime, Finn and Elsa. Are you ready to rock and stroll?

The Captain
Nicole checks out the map, she's the captain of this adventure. We cut through the midway and go straight to visit the anilmals in the barn.

Work in Progress: My 1st Sock

My First Sock
This is my first attempt at knitting a pair of socks. I started with a simple ribbed pattern because I don't need anything too complex to blow my mind. In this photo: the calm before the storm. I'm starting the heel next and who knows, it could all go straight to hell.

Hand dyed green yarn
I am a sucker for anything green.
